  • There are many reasons why it may be necessary to have a hysterectomy – surgical removal of the uterus. Some of these reasons include abnormal bleeding that is not controlled with medications, large fibroids causing pelvic pain and abnormal bleeding in a person who is not planning to have children, pelvic organ prolapse, or pre-cancer/cancer of the female reproductive organs.   • Myomectomy is the removal of uterine fibroids. Fibroid removal is done for people who have symptomatic fibroids that cause irregular bleeding, pain, or difficulty becoming pregnant.   • We offer vaginal, hysteroscopic, laparoscopic and robotic gynecologic surgical approaches for many different procedures.
  • Dilatation and Curettage
  • Dilation and curettage or D&C is a procedure done under general anesthesia to collect tissue from the inside of uterus. It is done to determine the cause of abnormal bleeding and can also treat abnormal bleeding. It can also be done to remove pregnancy tissue after a miscarriage in some cases. These procedures are usually performed at Huntington Ambulatory Surgery Center.
  • Hysteroscopy
  • Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that is used to assess the uterine cavity. It can also be used to remove uterine polyps and certain types of uterine fibroids without invasive surgery. No abdominal incisions are needed for this procedure. These are typically performed at Huntington Ambulatory Surgery Center.
  • Pelvic Floor Repair Including Procedures for Uterine Prolapse
  • Pelvic organ prolapse is a benign condition caused by weakened pelvic floor muscles. It can cause a sensation of vaginal bulge and pressure, involuntary loss of urine, defecatory dysfunction, and sexual dysfunction which can adversely affect quality of life. We offer medical and surgical treatments for pelvic organ prolapse.

  • Colposcopy and Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure
  • Colposcopy is a procedure used to examine the cervix, vagina, and vulva to identify areas that should be biopsied after an abnormal pap smear. Some cervical biopsy results warrant having a LEEP procedure to remove a larger portion of the cervix that has been identified as having pre-cancerous cells. We perform these in-office procedures when they are indicated.
